Switzerland Travel

The tour around Switzerland should start in Bern, because it is the heart of the country, its national symbol and an open-air museum. The Old Town of Bern with the Clock Tower, which considered to be the largest working clock in the world, is referred in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Bern is a city of museums. Visiting The Naturhistorisches Museum, tourists get the opportunity to see rare displays of exotic wildlife, get acquainted with exhibits on mineralogy, palaeontology and gemology. Practically all the works of modern art are concentrated in Kunsthalle Museum and The Bernisches Historisches Museum welcomes the visitors, displaying diffirent historical collections. Numerous narrow streets and decorated facades, more than 100 fountains give the city indescribable charm. Everyone is more or less aware of international city Geneva, which is home of the UN and the International Red Cross. Some tourists emphasize that Geneva is too business-like and boring to involve and fascinate, but the others admire such city’s landmarks as Cathédrale de St Pierre, built in the roman-gothic style, Jet d'Eau the tallest fountain in the world, Parc des Bastions a green park – favorite place of rest of all the citizents and guests of Geneva. There are many other museums, buildings and monuments, historical sights to see in Geneva. Moreover, one can’t help refusing to do some shopping in local boutiques, to try national dishes in small open-air restaurants. So, do not believe if you hear that there is nothing to do in Geneva, visit the city and you will understand the absurdness of this statement.

The largest of all Swiss cities is of course Zurich. Don’t waste time choosing the destination. Try to see all the sights of the city only then you will be able to understand, what means to fall in love with it. The main sights of Zurich are the following: Great Church (Grossmunster), Church of Old Lady (Fraumunster), Thomas Mann Archives, Fluntern Cemetery. The city offers a great choice of different activities beginning with cycling, mountain biking finishing with bars and nightclubs.

But all the same, majority of all the tourists, coming to the country, choose Switzerland to go in for skiing. Arosa in the East Switzerland is both attractive in summer and winter. It is a good place for nature lovers, because the local surroundings are really breathtaking. Gstadd, which is one of the largest ski resorts in the Alps, invites mostly beginners, as the slopes aren't as rugged as many other areas in the Alps. The most beautiful and picturesque snow peaks you can find in Murren, this place is usually chosen by more advanced skiers. Who doesn’t know the name Davos. This famous ski resort is located in a typical Swiss valley, surrounded by mountains. It lives mainly of tourism that’s why this sphere is very developed: typical inns and exclusive restaurants, sports facilities, hotels and pensions. Even the conferences and seminars are held in Davos. A lot of the locals prefer to spend the weekend in Laax, Films or Falera, that’s why if you are going to book the trip just on the weekend, take this fact into account. Helicopter skiing – sounds attractively. Wish to try it, the best place in Switzerland for this kind of sport is Griendwald. The greatest of all Swiss ski resorts remains Zermatt. If you haven’t heard of it, then you haven’t heard of Switzerland. In Zermatt skiing can be practiced all year round. If you tired of skiing, try ice skating, climbing, or paragliding, cause Make sure that Zermatt is a hub of activity. Of course it is up to you what exact sights of the country to see, where to go and what ski resort to visit, but remember only one fact – Switzerland is a country of incredible opportunities and you will in any case be satisfied with the trip.
