Historically, Swiss cuisine was influence by Italian, French and German. The country is popular all over the world due to its locally made cheese and chocolates. As for the drinks, the locals prefer apple juice. The chocolate drink of Ovomaltine, originated in Switzerland, is also popular. There exists a Swiss version of brandy, called Kirschwasser. It is not very sweet, but has a specific bitter taste with cherry flavor. It usually added to many chocolate products. Pflümli (made of plums) and Williams (of pears) are other fruit brandies popular in Switzerland.
